At the end of the academic year 2010-2011 and throughout 2011-2012 Mercy secondary and elementary schools and education centers are using the medal designed for the 180th anniversary year of the founding of the Sisters of Mercy to recognize veteran Mercy educators and/or graduates who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the works of Mercy.
